Woke up and packed everything. Called Isabella. She came and got me and we went to her flat. We downloaded all my pictures on to disc. Then looked at old pics of Roger. Ha Ha Ha!! Took a quick trip to the market where live fish and chickens are prepared for you. Wow!!! Awesome! People stared at me. I took several pictures. We stopped by a supermarket to pick up some noodles and stuffed my suitcase full of food.

My hair this whole trip has been awful. Isabella gave me some hair clips and headband to help out. SO KIND!!! Isabella's parents already left for a restaurant to get a table, so we met up with them and had lunch. We sat awhile and talked. Mainly about food and speaking English.

Funny! The tea was so hot! mrs. Hui asked for a glass of ice. I was the only one. I think I was the only foreigner in the entire restaurant. I got a lot of stares. (Probably because of the hair ;-).

Got back to the flat and 'fixed' my hair. HA! Mrs. Hui sprayed me with perfume. So funny! She also said my hair was so beautiful. We walked to the bus to take us to the airport. Mrs. Hui hugged me and I shook hands with Mr. Hui. We got on the bus and rode to Lantau Island/airport. After checking in, Isabella bought me more food and I bought drinks. We talked and then we walked to customs and said goodbye. So sad!! Went through customs, then security. So easy!! After that a lady from the HK Tourism board asked me some questions. Then she said, "Do you know Black Eyed Peas?" Yes! They just went through customs and are going to Beijing. Sure enough!! They were on my flight. They (and their entourage) were scattered throughout coach. One sat behind me. So funny.

...I'm still on the plane (7:20pm) Almost to Beijing. Only 37 minutes. Can't wait to see me group!!

Some observations about HK:
  • Everything is so clean.
  • The advertisments are so positive.
  • People everywhere to clean. People everywhere to help (airport, bus drivers, at shops...)
  • The bus rides are always so curvey.
  • The residential flats are incredibly small...
  • everything is so compact and on top of each other
  • Convenience is a big thing!!! "Sorry for the invonvenience!" Construction signs
  • Isabella talked about convenience too.
  • So generous! Especially Isabella and Mrs. Hui.

More later on tonight...well a little more now.

  • Geography!! MONTAINOUS! Incredible how everything is built either on or in the mountain. Pretty freakiin' amazing.
  • Cantonese and British English. All signs in English.
  • Isabella: "Que up!"

Looking out the window of the plane and seeing the clousd at 7:35pm. Beautiful.

Got off the plane in Beijing about 8:30pm and sat to wait for the rest of the group. Many people asking if I need a taxi. No not yet!!! I saw Dr. Tom and we waited together. I made a sign for the "Dodd Group :-)" I think they were very happy to be off the plane. The teach overseas group had a bus waiting for them so they left while we hopped a bus to a hotel. Good sleep!
